Vital to take with you, are a cellphone and marine radio. You will need those things in case of emergency or breakdown, so it is important to know how to reach marine patrol, the police and the coast guard. Besides having a cellphone on board for emergencies, you can of course also use it as entertainment. Take pictures of the beautiful waters that you are sailing and keep in touch with your family and friends. Regardless, stay alert at all times, make sure you bring a charger for your cellphone and use it frequently. A waterproof first-aid kit that includes gauze pads, bandages, scissors, rubber gloves, cotton, antiseptic wipes or lotion aspirin and tweezers is essential. You never know what might happen and on the water help is not always close. That being said, besides having a first-aid kit on board it’s also more than useful to know how to handle it. essentials are:

- Flashlights
- Marine charts
- A tool kit
It is in all cases mandatory to have a fire extinguisher on board, so when you are learning how to use a first- aid kit, make sure you also educate yourself on using a fire extinguisher. Other safety requirements might also occur where you are sailing, so make sure you are aware of those requirements before you leave shore.
