What do you take with you while sailing

The weather is nice and you have a yacht, time to get on the water! Before you start sailing, it is important to check a number of things. Is your boat (technically) in order? Do you know the sailing rules? And do you have everything with you? We have drawn up a list, so that you don’t forget anything.

Be prepared

Prepare yourself well and don’t be faced with surprises once you are on the road. Have a full battery and a full fuel tank. By looking at this in advance, you avoid major disappointments or annoyances when you want to leave.

While sailing

Once on the water you can get (engine) problems. For safety, there are some things you should always have with you. What you need to bring with you differs per boat, so you need more with a yacht than with a (small) motorboat. The standard necessities for a day of sailing are:

  • Boating license
  • Registration certificate
  • A life jacket for everyone on board
  • Paddles
  • Fire extinguisher of at least 2 kg
  • Lighting (in the dark)
